Tactical Urbanism

Improving the livability of our towns and cities commonly starts at the street, block, or building scale. While large-scale efforts do have their place, small-scale, citizen-led efforts like street seats help creatively fill gaps that aren’t always addressed by city government. Sometimes sanctioned, sometimes not, we refer to projects like street seats as “tactical urbanism.”

The Tactical Urbanism: Short-term Action || Long-term Change Vol. 2 guide included above provides two dozen case studies as well as background information on the fast growing, action-oriented tactical urbanism movement.
